Conducting Workplace Inspections

This course is intended for Safety and Health Committee members and Supervisors.

It covers the scope and purpose of workplace inspections, and describes the activities involved in workplace inspections which are an essential part of a comprehensive safety and health program.

It explores who should conduct workplace inspections, and when they should be done.

It sets out a process for planning for, conducting, and reporting the findings of an inspection, and deals with methods for collecting information.

The program describes advantages and disadvantages of inspection checklists, and provides guidance for developing workplace inspection checklists which are appropriate and useful in different areas and kinds of workplaces.

The importance of monitoring, follow-up, and corrective activities are also covered.
